Our Friend Sarah Michelle Gellar Shares Her List of Baby Fav’s…

Being in the “baby biz”, We’re always curious what baby and kids products our friends consider to be their “favs”.

We feel very fortunate that our friend Sarah Michelle Gellar was willing to share some of her favorite items with us – and post them to Guncles Online! (Be sure to watch her show – “The Crazy Ones”, Thursday nights on CBS!)

We’ll let Sarah take it from here! (Thanks, Sarah!!)  Enjoy her thoughts and take notes!  XOXO, GUNCLES

I am constantly getting asked what my favorite baby/child products are. So here is a list. It’s random. Just stuff that I like, and have found extremely useful. And for the record, I am not getting paid for this. This is just some mom to mom and dad sharing. You may even disagree with some of my thoughts, and that’s ok (well you would be wrong……just kidding)

Car Seat: Diono Radian RXT
I have tried many (literally I have even sat in some that say up to 120 pounds. I really like the Diono (pictured). I love how many uses it has (I cannot pass up a bargain). Its rear and forward facing, super safe, easy to use, and you can even fit three across in your car (so no need to convince any child that the third row is “special” just for them).
Stroller: Orbit Baby travel system
I also love the Orbit (pictured). I realize that this system can get expensive, but as any mom will tell you, there is no price you can put on a well-rested baby. It is the easiest to take in and out of car, lets new parents in a simple way know its locked in safely, the stroller is easy to fold and unfold, and the side kick for an older child is hands down the best on the market.
4moms mamaRoo
Baby Seat: 4moms mamaRoo
Ok, seriously the mamaRoo (pictured) changed my life. Even the fussiest babies can find a setting they like- I recommend some classic Michael Jackson on the “kangaroo” setting. It worked miracles on my baby. But a note of caution, as much as was jealous of this contraption it is not suitable for adults, even petite ones like myself.
Baby Carrier: Ergo Baby
There are so many great ones currently available, so this winds up being a personal preference as to what you find most comfortable (Bjorn, Ergo, Britax ). But I will say that my daughter loves that Ergo (pictured) makes a carrier for her and her baby dolls that matches the one I have. And I really like being able to put the hood up and over a sleeping baby (especially useful on an airplane).
Highchair: Stokke Tripp Trapp
Again I have tried many, but the one that I find has the most uses is the Stokke Tripp Trapp (pictured). From newborn all the way up (again I have sat on it) it grows with you. I also love being able to pull it right up to the table, so from an early age children learn to sit at the table, just like adults.
I also recommend any of the many portable hook on high chairs to keep in your car for restaurants. So much better then hoping the restaurant even has one, or finding out they do but it’s dirty with no straps. (We use the Inglesina.)

It’s no secret that I love to shop, especially for children’s clothing, so I will try and keep this short.
For inexpensive but stylish clothing that wears well, I shop H&M or Gap. You cannot go wrong with either. Also Zara has great super fashionable clothes and the coolest shoes. (Yes, I have tried to shove my big foot in their largest size to no avail.) My other absolute favorite is wunway.com. I pray the day comes when they sell my size, although my credit cards do not.
As for shoes, I love Pedi-Ped. They are especially great for new walkers and also for preschool children whose bodies are developing rapidly and can very hard on shoes. The shoes are truly sturdy and well made. I also love Toms……Well I am sure you know why.
Sound Machine
I swear by sound machines as a sleep aid and I love the Tranquil Moments White Noise Sound Machine for Babies. Both my children are great sleepers, and I contribute so much of that to this machine.
a+a Bamboo Swaddles
Swaddles: Aden + Anais
Pretty much anything they make I love, from swaddles to sleep sacks, to bibs and blankets. Everything is useful, soft and super cute.
Nescafe Dolce Gusto
Come on- I am a Mom, I need caffeine. Its quick and easy with relatively no clean up
There are so many toys on the market that I could probably write a book on them. But there is a new toy that I recently discovered, and by I mean me, as I can’t stop playing with these- GoldieBlox. It’s no secret that I love Legos, but these are such a great addition to that world. For so long “girls toys” were usually frivolous fashion dolls (nothing against a good Barbie doll but Bratz really????) and “Boys Toys” involved the cool aspects of construction and engineering. But GoldieBlox is out to change all that. By appealing to the world girls love, story and character and combining them with the ability to construct the sky is the limit. And they are not for girls only. My son always looks on with amazement that the designs my daughter is able to create using these blocks and her imagination.
Now some odds and ends…
  • For teething – Zoli Gummy Sticks Gum Massager
  • For on-the-go- Itzy Ritzy reusable Snack Bags. (So nice not to have to waste plastic baggies)
  • Diaper clean up- Diaper Dekor. I have tried many and once you master putting in the bags, it’s the easiest to clean and keeps the smell to a minimum
  • Noodle and Boo products- Mainly because I just love the smell
  • For slightly older kids- Kid’sleep classic alarm clock. Get them started early so you don’t have early risers crawling onto bed with you
  • Books books and more books- You are never to learn to love to read
  • Also just a thank you to Crayola for Color Wonder- It’s a genius product. I wish I had thought of it first.
  • And lastly but most importantly, tons of snuggles and kisses, because I swear, a child’s love is truly the best medicine
I am sure I could go on endlessly, and I often do, but this was just a top of my head list. The Guncles are truly an amazing resource for any baby/child products I know. Always ask them.
